My husband and I will be staying in the 12th arrondissement, Bel-Air, near Bois de Vincennes. Since it's fairly far out of the center of Paris it doesn't get much coverage. Has anyone had experience with good places to eat or drink in this area?
There's this bakery https://www.davidlebovitz.com/vandermeersch-k/ that depending on where you are in Bel-Air could be within walking distance (10-15 minutes). There is also this super place which would be about a 30 minute walk from the Bel-Air metro station https://www.facebook.com/Will-686526784739041/ and also this very good place very near the Bel-Air metro station http://restaurant-picotin.fr/.
You can also take the 86 bus a few minutes along the Faubourg St Antoine from Nation to dine at L’Ebauchoir on rue des Citeaux.
Thanks, JHK and Kim! I've made a note of your recommendations and am looking forward to some wonderful food! The bakery especially sounds wonderful.
We spent the whole summer in the 12th last year. There is a very small restaurant near the Promenade Plantee called L'Alchimiste on Rue de Charenton. It was right under our apartment. Tiny little place with amazing food. I recommend making a reservation to insure you'll get a table. While you're in the area take the time to walk the Promenade Plantee and browse the shops in the Viaduct des Arts shops beneath it. Wonderful, small, artisan spaces - umbrella makers, painters, piano restorers, chocolatiers...it's quite nice! Also take the time to go to the Marche Aligre - we bought almost all of our food there and felt like locals!
Thanks Anita, L'Alchimiste looks very good! We, too have shopped several times at Marche Aligre when we were last in Paris. We really enjoyed our experiences there not to mention the food that we brought home to cook!
