Where to dump rental car after Versailles

We are beginning our trip in Normandy and stopping for a day in Versailles before ending in Paris. We had figured that it would be easy to rent a car at CDG and then dump it after our day in Versailles, but this is proving to be difficult to impossible. We are going to have luggage with us, so we wanted to keep the car at Versailles so we had somewhere to store our bags. Knowing these things, where would be a place to drop our car near Versailles that will then also give us easy train access to Paris? We have thought about driving to Orly, and that gives us the most cost-effective car rental prices. Thoughts? Thank you for your help!

Hertz, Avis and Sixt all have branches at Versailles Chantiers railway station. It would be the best option. If it does not work out, then Orly is a good, easy choice.

before using your car as a mobile closet be sure you don't access it after you park. Do all the trunk diving well away from your parking spot, and take all your valuables with you.

Never leave any valuables or luggage visible in your rental car.

Also, I have been to Orly, and would avoid that airport.

If you have a hotel booked in Paris, you would drop of your luggage there after Normandy.

Versailles is easy to get to from CDG airport using the RER and METRO, but of course you don't want to drag luggage there.

Why? For a rental car drop off, it is perfectly fine. And even as an airport, it does the trick. Soon to be much better with metro access to Paris at some point in 2024 (hopefully before Olympics).
