Where to buy Rick's books in Paris or Nice

Hi all

I'm currently in Nice, heading to Paris in two days. The airline I took to Europe lost my bag with my travel books in it and I'm looking to replace my Pocket Paris guidebook. Any ideas where I might find one?

There are two bookstores on Rue de Rivoli in the First Arrondisement, WHSmith (at 248) and Galignani (at 224) which carry a pretty comprehensive collection of English language books and may have the Rick Steve's books, although I don't recall having seen them there.

Thanks for the inquiry.

You will find the most complete list of French bookstores offering Rick’s books below. There may be many other stores that will carry his books so you may want to find the most local bookshop carrying books in English. We do not know which books any one store would have in stock.
All of Rick's books can be ordered through our on-line travel store. We do ship to other countries.

France:
Livres et Objets du Monde
55 Rue Sainte Anne
75002 Paris

Librairie Galignani
224 Rue de Rivoli
75001 Paris

W H Smith
The English Bookshop
248 Rue de Rivoli
75001 Paris

The Red Wheelbarrow –
22 Rue St Paul
75004 Paris
01.48.04.75.08
Thanks for your interest in Rick Steves' Europe. Bonne Chance!

one option might be to go to online to Amazon France and purchase the book for delivery to you at the hotel in Paris. This will save you the time of tracking down bookstores that might carry it.

Expect a chiding letter from Rick reminding you of his recommendation for 1 carry-on bag when traveling ;-)

You could buy the e-version of the book and have it on your tablet or laptop in a few minutes. In a store, you may not find the snapshot version, only the larger books.

now John, she did the right thing. Only put things in checked bags you can easily afford to lose or live without for a few days. No need to schlep all travel books in carryon.

Merci beaucoup tout le monde!

Haha I was waiting for someone to mention the carry on 'rule'. I'm on a four week trip starting in Australia (where I live now), a week in Canada visiting family and a three weeks in Europe. With all the gifts I brought home and the Canadian things i bought to take with me, there's no way I could have managed with a carry on!! :)

I still managed to pack 'light' in a 65 liter backpack and not a (god forbid) wheeled suitcase! (Joking - although watching tourists try to lug giant suitcases up and down stairs in venice was entertaining).

WH Smith definitely has the books. Take the line 1 metro to Concorde, and follow the signs for sortie (exit) rue Cambon. You'll see The bookshop right across the street when you come up out of the metro (corner of rue Cambon and rue de Rivoli). They are even open Sundays from 12:30 to 7 pm, a rarity in Paris.
