Where in Paris to buy "Le Papier d'Armenie"

Where would I be able to find Le Papier d'Armenie for sale in Paris? Some online sites suggest they are available in Paris in a "pharmacy" but when I stopped in a pharmacy today I did not spot the little packets/booklets. Of course, I could have been looking in the wrong section of the store since I didn't know where exactly to find these. A pharmacy seems (to me) an odd place to look for a 'room deoxidizing' product but that's what the online reference suggested. Any ideas??

Here's from a French website: "Vous pourrez trouver du papier d'Arménie en pharmacie et parapharmacie, dans les boutiques Nature et découverte, les magasins de produits naturels ou bio (souvent vendu près des huiles essentielles)".

So a larger pharmacy than where you tried, or a parapharmacie--a concept difficult to describe in American culture--but look for the sign Parapharmacie, the chain Nature et decouverte, or shops with organic products (bio). Hope that helps.

At first I thought the OP was asking about an Armenian newspaper.

Newspaper in English = journal in French. Faux amis. Personally, I was baffled, too. I hope Keri can come back and tell us more about these papiers.

A type of incense used as a room deodorizer. Said to be effective for cigarette smoke and pet odors. A very traditional French remedy introduced by an Armenian man in the late 19th century.

Thanks for the pointers. (No, I didn't ask because I thought it best to have it written down and, yesterday, I didn't. Today I'll go out prepared.

And for anyone wanting more info. on what these are Wiki has a nice (& historical) article. I found a reference to these in a novel I'm reading so this became a point of curiosity!! Amazon sells them but at quite a markup. Reading the reviews there is also informative on what these are.

It seems to me they're usually up near the cash register, but I may be completely imagining this.

Unlike US pharmacies where you shop self service, lots of stuff is hidden away in Parisian pharmacies and you almost always have to ask the pharmacist. This is even more true of OTC drugs than such things as bandages and sunscreen and perhaps the product you seek, but it is fairly typical.

Has anyone actually used this? Did it work?

Success! The next day I went into a pharmacy with the name written on a piece of paper (not trusting my French pronunciation being recognized!!) and the sales lady went immediately to a drawer and produced the packet of papers. So, indeed, even if I had known what to look for, I would not have seen these on my own. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I ordered some from Amazon, and received it today -- eager to try it. I'm going to France later this year and if I like the Papier I'll certainly by some there. Thanks for the info about this and how to get it!
