Where do I check in my luggage for a Delta/Air France flight from CDG back to Seattle ?

Though I’ve flown back many times from CDG to Seattle, this time I’m staying overnight at a hotel at the airport (near Terminal 3). But though I’ve checked in to my flight tomorrow, I’ve no idea where to go to check in my luggage.
I’ve googled right and left for the past 35 minutes but still can’t find out where in the airport I need to go to check in my luggage. Help!

Do I still need to do this 3 hours before departure? It’ll be Friday, Halloween tomorrow…

Terminal 2E.

When you get to that section of the airport, look up on the big boards and it will tell you which check-in desk you need to use.

I took the CDGVAL train to get to my hotel so,ai can take it back the other way (I took the TGV from Aix to CDG, which dropped me off at or near 2E. The airport is gigantic: 2E, K, L, and M are not close to each other.

Generally, Delta/Air France flights go out of Terminal 2E so that’s where you go to check luggage. (K, L, M are all part of 2E). If you check your flight on the Delta app or website, or the Air France website, it should give you this information. Take the CDGVAL that connects the terminals.

I would leave my hotel 3 hours before the flight. Better to clear immigration and security and end up with time to kill hanging out at a coffee shop than to find myself racing to the gate. You just never know what the lines will be like at CDG. I don’t think Halloween has any effect on airport operations. I don’t even know if they celebrate Halloween in France!

A good website for info about CDG is https://easycdg.com

Renee,
Any recommendations for a place to hang out once I’ve checked my luggage in and cleared security? It’s at that point it I really weary of the airport: sitting sitting sitting.

Actually it is a holiday in France on Saturday: All Saints Day. That's the day living family members visit the cemetery to honor their dead and leave chrysanthemums on the graves. It's also the end of the 2-week school vacation, so families could be flying home, or grandparents taking the children home to their parents, etc.

I came thru 2E yesterday and was shocked to see CHRISTMAS decorations up in the Duty-Free area! Yikes.

IF you can't figure out where to go, ask one of the very nice folks wearing Air France uniforms. They will direct you to the Delta Check in area. I did not check a bag yesterday so did not have to do that.

Do you by any chance have Sky Priority status with Delta? IF so, there is a different line for you for passport control and security that does not have as many people in it.

Go ahead and download your boarding pass today. Mine told me what gate the Seattle flight left from although it changed twice that morning. The gate #'s were all "K" gates and were the ones in the 50 range which are downstairs. That means you will load onto a shuttle bus for transport out to the plane and will walk up the exterior steps to enter the plane. I eventually left from K53. I think last Fall I left from K52. When you check your bag the agent will tell you which gate.

If you want to get away from things, on the main floor where you enter from Security and passport control, walk all the way down to either end, preferably closest to where your flight gate is. There is seating there that is quiet and faces out onto the tarmac. Give yourself a little time to get downstairs if you need to leave from one of those K 50-something gates. Also, scope out how they have the boarding lines set up for the different Delta Zones and know which boarding zone you are in.

No, I don’t have Delta Sky priority. I’m wondering if three hours before depart isn’t going overboard, since I’m already at the airport and at most. 10-15 minutes from 2E. In the past checking in luggage has been quick, and going through security not really bad enough to stand out in my memory. Granted, it’s Friday nit the 13th but Halloween itself. Departures is set at 11:30 am…

Three hours should be sufficient, but I nearly missed a flight with that buffer (I had spent the night at a CDG hotel, had a similar late morning flight, and there were delays at each step of the process, plus a very long hike to the departing gate...). I now arrive at CDG 4 hours in advance, and enjoy a coffee or a drink with any surplus time.

3 hours should be enough unless there is information that it isn't. We are usually through and sitting around in under an hour when we arrive with boarding pass but this fall while checking bags was quick, the emigration process was incredibly slow. It was over an hour to get from check in through security and then the security lines were slow as well due to crowds so we used up a couple of hours. And that is without any actual problems like stopped lines. I remember a time when they shut down lines because someone collapsed and everyone had to wait until the medical crew had ministered to them and loaded them up and hauled them away.

We have had it take every minute of the 3 hours at CDG and once came close to missing a flight even with that time. It has been a bit more efficient lately but you always need to factor in unexpected delays.

With a high stakes international flight you need to give yourself the recommended time -- stuff can happen. There are restaurants and coffee shops as well as the tedious fake bargain shopping. I just consider time at airports 'out of time' -- ie. suspended time that doesn't count and must be endured. A Kindle full of good books and a computer (there is free wifi) helps.

We just flew out of CDG on Delta - it's always 2E - the display at the terminal will explain which boarding hall you will use. The shuttle to "K", "L" and "M" is super fast and easy. Once we got to "M" we had a very short line for bag inspection - we had to take out the 3-1-1 bag, all electronics and our belts. Spend your extra time getting coffee or last minute candy to bring home. Our gate was of course the very last. Boarding began early and we arrived in Detroit 20 minutes ahead of schedule!

Well, at this time (645 PST) Denny’s Seattle-bound Delta flight is in the air just south of Iceland according to the Flighty app, having left 14 minutes late. It’s still set to arrive 9 minutes early and hopefully all went well for our forum member.
