We are flying next week from Detroit to Lisbon, changing planes in France CDG. Where do we need to go through custom/immigration? Paris or Lisbon?
Immigration in Paris. Customs in Lisbon.
Correct --------
Note that your transfer is airside; don't follow the crowd to immigration or you will miss your connection; follow signs for 'correspondence' where you will go through Schengen immigration with others who are transitting airside. Some transfers require airside shuttles. You can sus out the information for your particular transfer by looking at online sites for CDG. Just google the terminals you arrive in and depart from and you will find video etc about how to do this efficiently.
And for those that are new to travel...entering the US from an International destination is different from entering Europe from an International destination.
The "rechecking of bags" after customs in the US is done right after security and there will be airline people there ready to take your bag so it's just a drop and go situation.
The "rechecking of bags" after customs in the US is done right after security....
Pam, shouldn't that be "right after customs" as checked bags can't be taken through security.
Hmmmm, Frank....I just came in thru Seattle and although I had carry on only I thought the baggage handlers were outside security but that doesn't make sense does it? The reason you have to go thru security is because you've been with your bag or a few minutes.
You are correct...it's after customs and before security to reenter the airside of the airport.
Sorry I posted confusing/wrong information!
