When does it makes sense to buy Carte Advantage TVG?

Hello,

We are two adults traveling to France in late June and plan to take three train journeys during our stay:
Marseille to Paris
Paris to Colmar
Colmar to Paris

Planning to book these tickets within the next couple of weeks. Would it be beneficial to purchase the Carte Avantage TGV? Also, is the card issued per person, or can one card be used to book tickets for both travelers?

How early should I book TGV tickets to get the best fares for late June?

Thanks.

The Carta Avantage is personal. Youi will need to do the math if the savings make up for the cost.

For the best prices book trains when they go on sale. But what you can do is do a few searches for today, next week, next month and three months in the future to get a feel of availability and the range of prices.

The adult benefit card is personal, but its owner can extend the benefit to another accompanying adult.
However, it can only be used on Saturday or Sunday, or for a round trip including the weekend.
A round trip means that if you are going from A to B, you must make the journey from B to A.

Instead of Marseille to Paris to Colmar to Paris, why not do Marseille to Colmar to Paris. There is a direct TGV from Marseille to Colmar at 9:45 am and several direct TGVs from Colmar to Paris. Two long train journeys instead of three.

TGV tickets between Colmar and Paris for late June go on sale tomorrow - Wednesday, January 28th.

TGV tickets between Paris and Marseille are already on sale for late June

I'm a bit baffled by this:

but its owner can extend the benefit to another accompanying adult.
However, it can only be used on Saturday or Sunday, or for a round trip including the weekend.

Could the person who wrote this show a citation from the SNCF website? My husband and I have been using separate SNCF senior cards for years and could have perhaps saved the 49 euros for one of us.

But an accompagnant (companion) is for a person who is not capable of traveling alone, ie medically certified in need of a helper. It

If there is another provision where only one card is needed for two people, please show us. Merci.

@Sam: Thank you for pointing it out. It totally makes sense to go from Marseille to Colmar to Paris. Saves good bit of time and organizes my itinerary a little better.

And the accompanying person can be anyone over 12 years old, as long as they travel with the cardholder. There are no medical conditions.

Again, I'm referring to the carte avantage adulte. The la carte avantage sénior doesn't have the conditions mentioned above, but it doesn't allow for a companion.

Indeed. My mind is stuck in senioritis. Merci chris_cran for reminding me that advantages do exist for other age groups. My son's family has that card.
