What to do in Lyon??

My 60 year old wife and our 30 year old daughter are arriving in Paris 29 May. They want to be in Lyon 3 June for the TS concert. They return home on 7 June from Paris.

When they arrive in Paris in May, they are set with a hotel. They want one day to recover and another day for the Louvre. They then plan on a morning train on 3 June to Lyon, check into their hotel, then the concert.

Would really appreciate ideas and suggestions on what to do 4,5 and 6 June in or near Lyon? Go somewhere else? Where?

They are not museum or night club people They actually like hiking. They were going to try a day or two hiking around Mt. Blanc, but it is pretty snowed in until mid June.

Any ideas???

If they like hiking then they will love the Lyon walking tour in the RS guide book!! There is some up and down and elevation gain and it is a very nice walking tour.!!

Eat! Lyon is very arguably the food capital of a food-focused country. Traditional Buchon restaurants in the old town are an experience to savor. There are also extremely fine dining places with Michelin stars, but a Buchon isn’t necessarily fancy or expensive.

We rented bicycles and ride around the Parc de la Tête d'Or, in the northeast of the old town.

You can also get in a good climb hiking (walking) from the lower town up to the Croix Rousse neighborhood.

There’s also the Fourvière hill above town, and you can climb up there on foot, or by riding the Funicular.

It's quite a hike from central Lyon up to the Croix Rousse district. :o)

Lyon is terrific to walk, walk, walk through. And there's plenty of opportunities to refuel.
