What to do for our last day in Bayeux?

Hi, we will be at Bayeux until Sunday? We do not have a car so we have to rely on bus or train. We just had our guided tour for the Canadian dd beaches. He showed us juno beach, juno center, hell's corner, canadian cemetry. We bought the 3 museum combo ticket that allows us to see tapestry, battle of normandy museum, and mahb. We already visited the Bayeux cathedral and the self guided tour that the tourist office gave us. We will be seeing Mont Saint Michel on Monday. I found out from tourist office at Bayeux that you can take a bus to the beaches and the centers and the cemetries. So we can visit Ohama beach and the American cemetry or british beaches by bus. In fact, you do not need a tour guide to visit dd beaches because of bus. Bus is so much cheaper than a tour guide!!

We can also see Caen memorial museum. What would you recommend to us we do on this Sunday? I would like your opinion. Thank you so much for your time and consideration in reading this post. Thank you for your suggestions and help.

I’d definitely take that time to see Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery. Pointe du Hoc too if you can, it’s not far from there. We did not like the Caen museum. Glad you saw the one in Bayeux, our favorite. A lot of people here recommend seeing the British Cemetery in Bayeux. You can also just hang out in Bayeux with any extra time, charming town just to “be” in.

Do not miss seeing the Bayeux Tapestry, c.1066! It doesn’t take too much time to view it.

Au contraire andrew, Normandy is absolutely wonderful. We’ve been there 7 or more times, for a week each time and love it. We drive all over on the 2 lane roads exploring, stopping at all kinds of wonderful places, towns, churches, chateaux, an old farm from the 1600s now open to the public, night time candle-lit tours of a chateau, old cemeteries... the charms and gems are endless and everywhere.

Math, i thought you’d already been to see the Bayeux Tapestry, if not, i agree with suki, definitely go see it... : )

Andrew, you shouldn't go. Everyone else, you shouldn't listen to Andrew. I've been to Normandy eight times in the past eleven years, and will definitely go back. The "major sights" are great, and there are more than you can visit in one trip. Beyond them, it is a wonderful rural area with many sights—most of which are not listed in guide books. I plan to go back many more times.

I will say that it is best visited with a car, as are most rural areas. Train stations quickly make a place less rural. One place I haven't done as a day trip but I have visited is Cherbourg. I mention it because you could take a train there from Bayeux. Another place I don't know if you've been, or how to get there without a car, but Arromanches is a wonderful beach town with remnants of the artificial harbor right on the beach, and great museum about the same, and plenty of places to eat. It is also very close to Bayeux, so I'm guessing you could get there via bus or taxi. TI could probably advise.
