What should we wear to Normandy?

We are visiting Normandy a week from Sunday. The temps are forecast in upper 70’s range but I would imagine it will be windy and feel cooler than that. For those who have visited around this time, did you find light jackets, etc. were needed?

I checked the forecast online, and it says lows are in the 50's and 60's. So, you would need a light jacket for morning and evening, certainly.

We visited in early July a few years ago. A windbreaker and hat or scarf was helpful, especially if you walk on zany beach. We also got some rain showers 2 of the 3 days and nights, so having a jacket was welcome.

check the weather forecast on the day - it will change during the coming week, and even during the day you're there. Then just wear what you would wear for the same weather at home.

I would never travel near the coast without a light windproof jacket - they weigh nothing and roll up very small.

In July a few years ago, I had a wool sweater under my hooded raincoat and was comfortable. Others in sweatshirts were shivering. It was an overcast, drizzly, windy July day.

It could just as well been sunny and warm or raining heavily—all in the same day on the Normandy coast.

Just left Normandy this morning. I would recommend a lightweight jacket. Yesterday it was warm, so wore shorts and tshirt. Today was light rain showers and cool.

Evenings can be cool also.

it so depends on what you are used to. I live just west of the Normandy coast, and swimming in the sea a few times a week, haven't worn a jumper or coat for about 2 months, very comfy in jeans, sandals, and a cotton top, and on a good day shorts!

Light (unlined) water-proof jacket that doubles as either a rain-shell or windbreaker. Have some kind of warm layer that you can either wear (under the jacket) or remove depending on how you feel.

It rains a lot along that coast but may or may not rain while you are there.

Layers. In the shade, we needed a jacket, at some points it was too much.

As said this depends on what youre used to - the forecast sounds hot to me lol - we did 4 countries - 5 weeks in Europe this past May- June - I packed a light rain/ wind jacket and a lightweight fleece and never wore either ! It even rained a few of the days - I just used my umbrella ( I hate hats ) .
Looks like you’re from the south- so I’d bring a lightweight jacket - anything over 69-70 is hot to me lol! And if it’s over 80 I’m dying of heatstroke lol

In April we were in Bayeux with rain jackets and puffy down jackets underneath -- and switched to summer wear a few days later. Hat with chin strap is recommended because there is wind along the beaches.

Pat, while we would welcome you to the South, you might want to stay where you are if anything over 80 would bring on heatstroke! 8;00 in the evening now and the temperature is 83..
