Im traveling to Paris from the USA. What type of adaptor, if any, do I need?
You will need a 2 pin European adaptor for your dual voltage appliances and electronics. Get them at the same place you get your UK adaptors (RS store or Amazon).
Rick Steves has them on sale for $1.00 right now. When we went to Europe I got 5 U.K. plugs and 5 rest of Europe plugs when RS had the on sale for a dollar. There are 4 of us (4 iPads, 2 iPhones, etc.). I also figured we might lose some along the way. I really liked them and $1.00 was a great deal, but factor in shipping.
France is well along in updating wall sockets to guarantee a ground. That's provided by a metal prong sticking out of the socket, not by a three-pin plug as in Britain and elsewhere. The French plug adapter has a hole where the prong fits to complete the ground. The old two-pin may fit these sockets or may be too snug; either way you are not going to be grounded. A quick Google search, or a glance at Amazon or its competitors, will show your choices.
