What is Paris like during Fashion Week?

First trip to Paris is during Fashion Week, but didn't book it for that reason. Is the city and major attractions more crowded because of this?

It's not just Fashion week, there are many conventions going on during that same week
in September. The metro is a little busier as are some of the museums. Don't think it's
anything to worry about.

Fashionable restaurants will get booked up. Taxis may be in short supply in the wee hours of the morning. They won't be at the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower though, especially in the morning.

Many thanks for your input. But, David, I got a laugh at yours (we are from Los Angeles but hope not to stand out too much as tourists - we will indeed leave our flip-flops at home).

I've been to Paris more than once in September. Because of all the trade shows, there's a lot more pressure for hotel rooms, so they usually need to be booked well in advance. For sightseeing, it's like other months. If you're there for the weekend of the Patrimony Days (3rd weekend), Paris will be jam-packed with French tourists, but you'll get to see places that are closed to the public 363 days of the year - very special and well worth it.

The main thing will be a bit more congestion in the central area Concorde/Madeleine/Rue de Rivoli/Tuileries over the few days, traffic gets really bottlenecked around there. At any given moment around a specific show, crowded then/there too. It shouldn't affect you TOO much, but if you're spending any time down there in that central area, you're likely to notice some wild folks walking around!

Chani, thank you. Looks like we will miss Patrimony Days. But it does seem like a great time to see attractions we wouldn't normally see. If we fall in love with Paris, maybe that will be good for next year!

Kim, thanks - it's good to know this about Central Paris. We aren't too far from Hollywood, so I hope seeing wild ones in Paris can be just as fun.

Our rooms are booked for three nights, but haven't any reservations for attractions (it seems Eiffel is booked). I'm downloading apps to learn transportation, but it seems we should reserve a tour covering the main sights.

Again, thanks for wonderful advice!

When I was in Paris during that time, I really wasn't aware of it being Fashion Week. It really depends on where you are.
