Congratulations Shelley for being in Sarlat, my favorite place in France (or Europe or the world) for the most magical of nights. My husband and I were fortunate enough to arrive near Sarlat late afternoon on Saturday of patrimony weekend many years ago. We went into town, not knowing what to expect. To our delight and surprise it was as you described: absolutely amazing, candles everywhere. When we were there the crowd was led by a group of klezmer musicians from stage to stage. The perfect Pied Pipers. The most magical of nights!
