Looking for mid-range or budget hotels by Old town or in La Carré d'Or. Don't mind walking 10 or 15 minutes to the Promenade or Old Town or using the tram. Our budget is up to 300 euros per night. Will be staying three nights in Nice in early October after spending three nights in Villefranche-sur-Mer.

Enjoyed the Hotel Splendid, 10 minute walk to the Promenade and 5 minute walk to the Tram station at Alsace Lorraine. Roof top bar/restaurant and pool.

We have stayed at Hotel Mercure Notre Dame, La Perouse and Hotel Aston La Scala. La Perouse was by far the most magical, but comes at a steeper price. Our most recent stay was at Hotel Aston La Scala and was about a 5 minute walk from Old Town. Both Mercure at Hotel Aston La Scala look to be in your price range.
Once we stayed a week in Villefranche-sur-Mer in an apartment, it was wonderful.

We stayed here and absolutely loved it. As a bonus, it is right on the bus route to/from Villefranche-sur-Mer.
