Weather in May/June - Spain, Portugal and France?

need to buy a lot of new clothing due to changes in my body (ahem weight gain &#128514 and will be gradually buying items which I can pack for my Europe tripe.

In recent years, what has the weather been like in May/June in Spain, Portugal and France?

We are beginning in Spain in the last week of May and will be traveling around for 2 weeks, then Portugal for a week, and France for 2 weeks.

EDIT; I’m from Australia so our winters are mild and summers are stiflingly hot so my version of ‘warm’ might be different to others :) I wear dresses mostly so was planning on mostly short sleeves with a few longer and sleeveless options plus some cardigans and one all rounder jacket.

Last year in June Paris had some temps that were warmer than normal. Unknown what June 2023 will be.

I'd plan for hot weather and then have a couple of long sleeve toppers in case it's rainy and cool. You'll likely have had pretty hot weather for Spain and Portugal so that should be OK for France.

I'm a light packer and would probably have 2 pr of long pants and 2 pr of capris - all sink washable which will dry overnight, lol. I'd also have 4 Short Sleeve tees and perhaps 2 LS quarter zip DriFit shirts as toppers - or if you like, a cardigan. I'd have a waterproof rain jacket with a hood.

I was in Spain and Portugal in May and June, 2014. It was warm and hot once or twice -- typically 80s Fahrenheit highs during the day -- as well as breezy. The breeze is very pleasant, especially in Lisbon, but I felt it in Spain, too. I cannot recall much humidity anywhere. At night, it was in the 50s and 60s Fahrenheit.

I think one jacket should do, preferably one that resists rain. Maybe one or two light sweater. For the rest of your wardrobe, plan to bring things you'd wear in spring and early summer in the U.S.

There are more than 1500 km between the north of France (eg Normandy) and the south of Portugal or Spain (Lisbon, Seville). The temperature, even on average, can vary significantly depending on the area.

In addition, the climate also depends on the proximity of the sea, whether it is in the mountains or in the plain, etc.

So between May and June you could have barely 15°C in the north of France and at the same time more than 30° in the south of Spain.

We can't generalize. I had two Junes visiting Paris and Burgundy where I had to buy emergency sweaters and jackets at a charity sale. None in stock in the stores. And I've had some bad heat waves in June. In northern France, prepare for everything.

I am from Australia too and get a lot of my travel clothes from Uniqlo. Their Airism range works well (look in the activewear category) and I just about lived in my Airism UV protection hoodie on our last trip (October in Barcelona). Airism is light to carry, breathable and wicks sweat and dries really quickly (overnight) for hotel hand washing. My sister loves the ripskirt range of quick dry skirts for travel.

A few places like Kathmandu are having Black Friday sales this weekend. For anything from Kathmandu just know that they seem to think woman don't have hips, and jackets can be unforgiving in the butt area.

We really need to know where you will be in each of those countries to begin to answer your question. There's not a lot of hot weather along the northern coast of Spain or in coastal Normandy and Brittany, even in July. If you're heading to either of those areas, you may run into cool, wet weather. On the other hand, some places in far-southern Spain can be extremely hot in June (and even quite hot in late May).

You can explore actual, historical, day-to-day weather statistics for most significant destinations on the website timeanddate.com. As an example, here's Seville for May 2022; you can (and should) use the pull-down menu above the graph to look at data for additional years.
