My wife and I plan to visit Cassis next May, arriving mid-month. We want to swim and snorkel while we’re there and wonder if the water temperature will be warm enough to allow swimming. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanks so much for any suggestions-
Between 60-66 degrees Fahrenheit
will you be packing your wetsuit? I think you will need it...
A quick dip is perfectly feasible mid-May, but snorkeling is not, the water will be too cold without some sort of wetsuit.
In any case, the snorkeling is very nice but it is far from being "world class". The wonders of Cassis lie mostly above the water, it is a prime hiking destination and May weather is usually ideal for that! Take plenty of water, there is none along the trails.
Thank you all for your enlightening responses. All you’ve told me is very helpful and I appreciate your taking the time to share your knowledge. Armed with new knowledge I think my wife and I will briefly wade in the water and then explore the calanques by boat.
