Warm blooded Canadians ??? about the weather you had in Normandy, Alsace and Paris Oct-Nov

We are leaving in late October for 25 days,.....we are fairly warm blooded.

We are going to go to Colmar and Luxembourg first then Normandy and should be at Mont St. Michel for Halloween of all days, then 4 days in the Loire and then 10 nights in Paris in early November.......

How did you need to dress at that time of year?

I keep wondering about gloves?

any advice is appreciated. thanks

I would say definitely bring a pair of gloves, a hat, waterproof or water resistant outer shell, maybe waterproof walking shoes or boots. The weather will be changeable and unpredictable that time of year so you can expect everything from 70 degrees F to maybe in the 30's, nice sunny days and rainy ones too, especially in Normandy. Always the possibility of early snow but if so, it won't stay around. It will be the luck of the draw.

I have twice been to Paris late in the year, once in mid-November and once in late December into early January. The days were about 10 C, sometimes rainy. I wore my Australian Dryzabone raincoat every day, with warm sweaters, scarves and gloves, which would not have been adequate for that time of year here in Montreal. I love my Ozzie raincoat for travelling off season. It has roomy pockets for guide books, maps, etc. and a couple of hidden pockets inside for valuables. But, hey, no guarantees about weather .....

Hopefully we will have good weather. We leave on the 20th of October to November 16. My hubby usually wears shorts till it snows here. ( he grew up in northern Manitoba. ) we will have layers so hopefully that will work for us.

Anyone with cautionary tales?

Out here in Pacific NW the men's winter uniform is Gore Tex shell, wool cap, fleece jacket or down vest, shorts, and sandals. No socks (why get them wet?) Your Manitoba husband would be right at home. But for France, as advised above, bring layers. I'd take the outfit I described but with long pants and real shoes and socks (I don't wear the uniform here either). Fleece gloves are very lightweight and good insurance if your hands get cold easily.

But remember, in Paris you can always duck in somewhere for a warm drink or snack or an art exhibit or some such.

Unless the weather forecasts anything under 15degress Celsius before we leave.....he will bring shorts. Walking shorts (long ones) but he will probably still bring them.

Hello
My husband and I went to these exact areas at the exact time two years ago. We have lived in Alaska so we were prepared with layers. However, I forgot gloves and a stocking cap/ear coverings. I brought sturdy leather shoes. The cold wind bit right through the shoes and I had to buy some boots in one of the towns. It snowed in Luxembourg. Rained in Colmar. Rained every day in Paris. It was clear and lovely in Normandy (go figure). I am warm-blooded too but really wasn't prepared. My advice is pack in layers, bring something for the rain, remember your head protection, and bring warm shoes that will keep your feet dry. Oh and don't forget that scarf for your neck as that is something I used every day!
