We will be visiting the Bretagne area of France in May. We are planning a quick stop in Quimper from Locronan. Any advice on where we can park the car and take in some of the highlights in the historical district. Thanks.
I'll be in Quimper in May as well! I can't answer your question about parking as I will be taking the train but I can share the websites and information I've found regarding visiting Quimper.
The main TI website:
http://www.quimper-tourisme.com/index.php
They also have a mobile site which so far is minimally helpful. It is in French but I do see they have some parking info. There are also 3 audio tours in English. Really they are just short 2-minute blurbs about the Ste Catherine Bridge, the Cathedral and the Place au Buerre.
On the blurbs the narrator indicates there are some English tours from the TI and this is also mentioned on the link that shows the tourist office map but I haven't found any kind of a schedule yet.
I've seen several diffferent things about markets and market days, depending on what day you will visit. One is that there is a covered market that runs daily. I've also seen there is a market on Saturday and Sunday along the River Steir. Another bit says a flower and plant market on Sat on Rue Marie Kerstrat.

I haven't been able to find if there is a tour of the Cathedral of Saint Corentin.
This link has some nice descriptions of places to see in Quimper.

It looks like there is quite a bit to see!
It has been a few years since I was in Quimper, but it seems to me there was a car park on the main road heading in to "centre Ville," which was then an easy walk to the historical district. I always just make it a habit to follow the "centre ville" signs and then pull into any convenient car park, using the church tower, if any, as an estimate of how far I might actually be from the center.
Here's something that's a bit dated (2013) but may still be accurate since it is put out by Quimper itself (you'd think they would update this map if it required updating, non?)

click on "Check the parking map" for a detailed map of parking around the historical district..
We'll be going to Quimper as well, although a couple of months later than you. Can you recommend any hotels?
We were looking at Best Western Kregenn but reviews on line make it sound as if sleeping could be very iffy because of noise from a bar nearby. Calling the hotel only reinforced that concern.
Thanks everyone for your help. Bob, I cannot recommend a hotel as our cruise ship is docking in Brest where we are renting a car and spending a day in Quimper.
