walk to Girabaldi metro from flea market

Hi,
We will be visiting the flea market at Saint Ouen near metro #4 terminus at Clignancourt and then want to head to Basilique de St. Denis. The easiest way is to do a 12 minute walk along Rue des Rosiers which passes through the flea market to the Girabaldi metro stop on line #13. Anyone have a taste for how dangerous this idea might be?

We are seasoned travelers and not afraid of dark graffiti covered buildings. But we try to avoid being STUPID.
thanks for any help.

I think your plan is fine. I visited Saint Ouen a couple of years ago using the directions in Rick's book for walking from the Porte de Clignancourt metro station, following Marche aux Puces signs and the Avenue de la Porte de Clignancourt. I believe that was the seedier part of the walk, with booths hawking cheap merchandise. Rue des Rosiers is the heart of the flea market, well traversed, and as respectable as a flea market is going to get.

That Metro line goes straight to the stop for the Basilique de St. Denis. I made the mistake of going to the wrong St. Denis stop, which placed me in a predominantly African neighborhood and I had to use another Metro ticket to get to the right place, but it all worked out.
