VRBO/Homeaway in France

I know that there is the registration requirement in Paris for vacation rentals. I have decided that I just don't want to deal with it, so I am going the hotel route. But then I will renting a car and driving to Epernay, Ribeauville and Beaune. I would like to use the VRBO/Homeaway option for those cities. I am correct that there is not a registration requirement outside of Paris and I don't have to worry about illegal rentals when choosing a place to stay? Appreciate your feedback!

We used airbnb in Reims, Dijon, and L'isle Sur la Sorgue. (And hotels in Paris....) Haven't seen any issues in these towns. I did notice Sevilla, Spain, as instituted the registration system, too.

hey hey linda
when are you planning this trip, how many people and budget? we are going end of september and found an apartment thru TA, took a few days and lots of searching. tried the other places we had stayed at, no longer available, we got a great rate for 8 days with many amenities (washer, balcony, elevator: on the 5th floor) near public transportation, quiet, non touristy in the 14th. we will be seeing a different part of paris we haven't seen for my 3rd trip there, we're happy since it's a busy month.
i think the VRBO/Homeaway/AIRBnB option you do not need registration numbers if under 200,000 population.
we went to reims on the train and thru the countrysides it was a day trip tour and we had lots of fun, didn't stop at the caves for tasting was soooo crowded. we went to 2 private houses in the country, loved it. we stopped at a cafe/restaurant in town and sampled champagne from the small and local vineyards wwithin the area, not the well known.
before we get to paris will be spending 2 days in geneva and 6 in annecy, we are ready for a great time, haven't been and excited to see more of france.
don't forget to get your IDP for renting car, available at AAA for $25 and 2 passport photos. have a great vacation and have fun

My wife found a wonderful apartment for us in Loches by Googling. It was at least an unofficial VRBO. You should have no problem with registration outside of Paris.

Also, check Alcove and Agape for rentals in Paris. We found a great room that way, much better than staying in a hotel, at least for us.

I can't imagine there's any issue in any of those places. We've rented through VRBO in the Dordogne and with AirBnB in several small towns throughout France. I would strongly recommend checking out AirBnB listings for those towns. I've been very satisfied with using them in the US, Canada, France and Switzerland, all in small to medium-sized towns..

We recently had a great experience with a VRBO in St-Remy-de-Provence.

We had a fabulous apartment in Paris two blocks from Notre Dame through VRBO. we have used them all over Europe and never had a problem.
