Visiting Provence, ... is it Better to Stay in Avignon, Aix or Arles?

If by car I would choose Aix. If by train I would choose Avignon.

Give us an idea of what you like to do and see, how many people, ages, any mobility issues, how much time you have. It is hard to make suggestions without some idea of your expectations and likes/dislikes.
