Visiting Paris just after the Olympics

We are considering a trip to Paris a few days after the closing ceremonies, and departing before the Paralympics begin.

Does anyone have any guidance on this? Our goal is to avoid the crush of visitors who are coming for the games.

Any other considerations for this time period? We are aware that August is the getaway month for many Parisians.

So you plan to be there between Aug 12 and Aug 17 ?

I suspect a lot of folks will be extending their time there after the Olympics and others coming in early for the Paralympics, so I suspect there will be very little of an "un-crushed" period.

The general consensus seems to be to avoid Paris next summer if you can unless of course you are going to the Olympics. Lots of commentary about increased costs and crowds. But no one knows for sure as maybe many will indeed stay away.

OP, I agree with the previous posters for the reasons given. It's unlikely that there would be any discernible drop off in crowd levels in the few days between the 2 sets of games. And September is convention month , as well as Fashion week, so crowds (and prices) will be high then too, with a commensurate lack of available, affordable accommodation.
