Visiting Paris 1st time in March

Hi
I and my wife are planning to visit Paris on 7-9th March'16.
Can someone guide us about the weather? What should we be carrying with ourselves.

Will the shops, local sightseeing places and restaurants be open at that time.

What should we be prepared for this trip.
Thanks
Deepak

Everything will be open.

This website says daytime highs in March average about 55 and lows about 40, and there's some rainfall about half the days. Early March will likely be cooler and wetter than these monthly averages. So bring layers, including rainwear, that you can put on or take off as conditions change.

Obviously no one can predict weather now for those precise days next year. If you'll be in Paris shortly after leaving home, check the five-day or ten-day forecast on weather.com for a more accurate picture of what to expect, and pack accordingly. If necessary, you'll find lots of small portable umbrellas for sale in tourist areas as soon as any serious rain starts.

Deepak, if you are from a warm climate you may find Paris cool and damp in March, especially early March, bring a warm but not heavy rainproof jacket. I was in London England on March 17 the one year and it was cool and rainy with sleet, I had a good jacket but wished I had brought some thin gloves!
However you may get lucky and get some sunshine , so dress in layers .

Also, yes if course all major sites will be open, BUT you must plan carefully as many museums close either Monday or Tuesday, so if you wish to visit Louvre or Orsay check your itinerary carefully, one is closed on Monday, the other is closed on Tuesday. Sorry I cannot remember which is which, but you can easily look at their websites.

Maybe sunny, possibly a little cold, it could also rain a little.
In March, April, I always take with me a warm jacket, a scarf, gloves and a woolly hat. If you do not need it it's also nice.

You are getting good advice on dealing with the weather. We were in Paris the first week of March last year and experienced mostly cold weather but mostly not raining! We had great sun for a day at Versailles. If you have any plans that would require sun, seize the day should you wake up to blue skies! I did bring Gortex shoes (by Ecco) which kept my feet comfy.

Note it is not crowded and some museums are open late to extend your day's enjoyment. For example, we went to the Louvre for a guided tour at 4:00PM one day, staying until 7:00PM.

Paris is in northern Europe, and March is early in the season.
There's no bad weather, just inappropriately dressed tourists.
Know before you go (the weather, I mean), and bring the appropriate clothing.

Two days is not enough!

My 5 year old and I came to Paris and London in March 2013 and it was the coldest March in 100 years in London - complete with snow.

Where else are you going? Bring warm, waterproof layers and if you need more, hit H&M, Monoprix or other cheap and cheerful shop for hats and gloves. We did that in London and got a cute hat which reminds us of that trip. There will not be much selection as it's supposed to be the end of the season.

I noticed that everyone - men and women - wear scarves even when it's only a temperate. I went out yesterday without one and felt naked!

And don't forget water-resistant footware. Good preparation for any time of the year in Paris.
