We fly into CDG and have 3 nights/2 days before joining a river cruise in Paris. Recommendations for quaint, small village close to CDG by train with transport into Paris for day trips. We have stayed in and love St.Germain en Laye but it is 90+ minutes from CDG. Thanks!
Chantilly would work. It is close to CDG by taxi but linked to Paris by train. Not as conveniently so as St Germain en Laye but still rather quickly.
Otherwise there aren't really any villages or small towns on the RER line from CDG...
The closest I can think of is Sceaux, accessed by RER from CDG, a suburb with a charming main street and close to Parc de Sceaux, which is a bit like the Chateau de Versailles park, minus the Chateau (EDIT yes technically there is one, but it's more of a large mansion!). But it's not as interesting as St Germain en Laye...
There is a chateau at Sceux -- but really there is no convenient place to stay besides Paris.
Unless you have a car, stay in Paris. There really is no ¨quaint, small village¨ close to CDG.
