Versailles: Waldorf Astoria – Trianon Palace

Has anyone stayed at this hotel? Worth the price tag? Curious if you can get onto Versailles grounds staying here? Thank you.

Funny, I just suggested this hotel in another thread. I stayed there a couple of years ago with my family. We had no interest in going to Versailles so I do not know if you can get into the Versailles grounds staying there. We went for the weekend to get out of a Parisian heatwave. It's a beautiful property. The bar had a lovely summer cocktail. I rarely post on social media and the drink was so good and beautiful that I posted about it. I am a Hilton Honors member and I thought the price was fine.

We stayed there last year, mostly to minimize walking for an injured member of our family. For that alone, it was worth it. Good air con, lovely breakfast. Yes you can get to the Versailles property but it's the same as everyone else, it's not like a Disney hotel that gives you a special entrance. The thing that helped the best was pre-buying the entry tickets, then we did not have to wait in line.

We didn't splurge for a view over the grounds, and the view that we had was fine.

The other thing that helped alot was that Versailles has golf carts that you can rent to drive around the garden hedges and fountains. This was an essential help for Dad with his gimpy leg. They were fun and they create their own breeze so it helps keep you cool Otherwise, the hedgerows are so tall that very little air movement gets through.

We had a car, and used their underground parking. We checked out the open markets in the village of Versailles the next day. Lots of places were offering COVID testing as well.

Oh and Versailles has its own Angelinas! So I could sample that famous hot chocolate without going into Paris!
