Versailles visit

My husband and I are planning our first visit to Versailles (July). We will be staying locally.

I am thinking we'd book the English guided tour of the Palace on a Friday morning and wander the gardens on Friday afternoon. We enjoy gardens so want to give this a good amount of time. I thought we'd go back on the Saturday to see Les Grandes Eaux Musicales from 3.30pm in the afternoon and stay on for an early evening (?7pm) Royal Serenade followed by Les Grande Eaux Nocturnes from 8.30pm.

Can we use our Paris ticket for access on the Friday and then just purchase the tickets to the Grandes Eaux Musicales, Royal Serenade and Eaux Nocturnes or will we need to purchase a 2nd entry ticket for the Saturday?

Can you purchase something to eat inside the Palace grounds (eg between the Grandes Eaux Musicales and the Royal Serenade) or can you bring something to eat in the gardens?

Any suggestions of things to do nearby on the Saturday morning or places to eat etc?

We would appreciate any comments about this itinerary from others who have visited previously. Thanks.
