Versailles via Fat Tire Bike Tour?

Has anyone visited Versailles through this company? I've heard good things but it was years ago. If anyone has any thoughts about seeing Versailles with Fat Tire or another recommended way to conquer Versailles, I'd love to hear about it. We'll be visiting in early September. We are in our late 40's, love riding bikes and have never been to Versailles. Thanks for your help!

I think this bike tour would be a lot of fun for you. I’ve heard good things about it and you can see Versailles more efficiently with FT than on your own since you’ve never been. I’ve done a Paris FT tour, but not Versailles. I’ve been to Versailles 30+ times, and have rented bikes there in the gardens by the Grand Canal. That way is fun too. If you want to follow RS directions on how to do Versailles on your own, it’s not difficult. But for you, i think FT would be enjoyable.

I was looking at doing that trip with my daughter this Aug, but find the price tag ($155 CAD) excessive considering it does not include a guided tour of the palace or lunch.

I wasn’t aware of the price, and it changes my answer... I wouldn’t do it at that price.

I did the Fat Tire Versailles bike tour with my daughters and teenage granddaughters a few years ago and it was one of the highlights of our 2 weeks in Europe. I believe the price included the train, entrance to Versailles, and the tour. We were lucky enough to be there on market day, and had a wonderful time choosing our picnic lunch before the bike tour of the gardens. We enjoyed it so much that I am going back in September and plan on taking the same tour with my husband.

We did the Versailles tour in 2006 or so and it was the highlight of our trip. That price includes the bike, train tickets and skip the line entrance into the chateau which can be very lengthy. We got a picnic linch at the market,(bought our own stuff). It was great. The place is so big you couldn't walk it all and see it so having a bike is an advantage.
We also took the bus once

then rented bikes there. If you have never been I'd suggest spring for the Fat Tire tourist was a full day. We met early at their shop and rode through Paris when the streets were deserted which was fun.
Good Luck

I took this tour with my two daughters this past October and I would highly recommend it. We met the group at a metro station near the Eiffel tower and took the train out to Versailles. We picked up the bikes and rode into town to buy picnic supplies and then rode into a back entrance to the grounds. We had our picnic by the lake. It was a little more strenuous than I thought it would be, we rode about 10 miles. After touring the grounds we ended up at the Chateau where the guide gave us our tickets to enter and we were on our own after that. The Chateau was surprisingly un-crowded which made it much more enjoyable. You are free to wander around and then take the train back to Paris on your own which was easy to do.
