Versailles to Paris with luggage

We are finishing up a bicycle tour with a group in Versailles. We stay Saturday night at a hotel in Versailles, then depart on our own for Paris on Sunday. We will have luggage and wonder if it’s practical to take it on the RER c train into Paris?
Once into Paris we will probably get a taxi from the closest metro stop to our hotel in the Rue Cler area. Does this seem reasonable? Probably two carryons plus two suitcases to lug around
Thanks for advice.

Depending on where exactly your hotel is located, the 3 most convenient RER stops will be Champ de Mars, Pont d'Alma or Invalides. I'm not sure if there will be taxis at any of those locations but you may be able to flag one down if you think it's too far to walk.

If you want to share the hotel name I can be more specific about which one I'd get off at.

I think it would be very practical to take the RER in to town. They will tend to be more crowded going back to Paris later in the day so space should not be a problem for you and your luggage.

Yes, you can take luggage on the RER. Lots of people do it.
Versailles has 3 train stations, Rive Droite, Rive Gauche (Chateau), and Chantiers. If your hotel is near Chantiers, you can also get a TER to Gare Montparnasse.

We are staying at Hotel Le Louis Versailles Chateau. Planning to leave our luggage there while we tour Versailles on Sunday. Pick up our luggage then get to whatever transportation is best option for Paris.
We are staying at Hotel Relais Bosquet. A Rick Steves favorite.
Hope this additional info helps.
Thank you

On a Sunday, I would splurge the 30 euros for an Uber to the 7th. No traffic. Cabs might balk at the short distance between Pont de l'Alma and the Relais Bosquet, if you take the RER (or you can take bus 80 but it might require a different ticket vs the RER, I am confused by the new system).

Balso has a good suggestion. IF you do decide on RER, then yes, get off at Pont de l'Alma and walk south on Avenue Bosquet. It's 1/2 mile to the Relais Bosquet.

I hope you enjoy this hotel, it's one of my favorites too. If you are in the mood for a splurge, get an ET view room. Honestly there is nothing better than lying in bed watching the tower twinkle, lol!

A few years ago a friend was staying there and was headed down the stairs for breakfast. She passed a man on the stairs, then startled, said to her friend...I think that's Rick Steves! He popped his head over the banister and said...yes, it is! Haha....

Thanks for the replies. The more I think about it makes more sense to Uber. While we are fit mid 60s, my back isn’t good and the thought of lugging luggage a half mile from the metro stop to the hotel isn’t worth it. So funny about Rick Steves at the hotel. We are really looking forward to this trip. First Paris trip for my husband.
I’m sure I’ll be back on this forum for more help planning.
Merci!
