Heading to Paris in mid-November and can't quite nail down whether a timed ticket is necessary for Versailles when entering on the Museum Pass. Any advice?
It is necessary if you want to enter mid day, but not possible. i.e. A museum pass gives you no line priority. Therefore it is wise to arrive no later than 8:30 at perimeter security to enter the courtyard and get in the long security line for chateau entry. At that hour you should get in fairly close to 9 am when it opens. It is not possible to get a timed ticket with a museum pass.
I think they don't do timed ticket past November 1 either but check on the website.
I was there 2 weeks ago and had bought the Museum pass. As mentionned, you can sadly not get a timed ticket with the paris museum pass. So we are arrived at 8:35 in front of Versailles. There was maybe 60 people ahead of us. Opens at 9, we were inside at 9:05 and pretty much had Versailles to ourselves by arriving at this time.
When you arrive, you'll see 2 lines. The left one(will probably be shorter) is for timed tickets, reservations, whatever), the right one is the one you'll will be at.
it's about a 10 minute walk from the metro station
Thank you all for your input! Great help!
