Versailles timed entry with the passport ticket

I am planning a first time visit to Versailles this summer and am wanting to buy the "Passport" ticket in order to see as much of the grounds and palaces that I can (and that my body and energy level will allow). I know it's not the ideal day to visit but I only have a Saturday available for this outing. I am confused by the timed entry. Half hour increment times are listed for "access to the palace" after clicking to buy the Passport. Are these times the actual entry time for the entire complex or to the main chateau? If I book a 3 pm entry, can I go to the gardens and Trianon palaces around noon and then just make certain I am back at the main chateau for a 3 pm entry? Or does it mean that I cannot get into the entire complex until 3 pm (which will leave me very little time to explore the chateau, Trianon and gardens)? I hope all this makes sense to you because I am so confused on this matter. Thanks!

That is your Chateau entrance time -- none of the rest is timed e.g. gardens on fountain days or Trianon (although I think it is only open in the afternoon)
