How far ahead of our visit do we need to order Versailles entrance tickets? I would like to wait until we get to France so I can determine which of our days in Paris would be the best weather day. Planning on touring gardens, etc., first and then Palace in late afternoon. This would be early October.
Also, what Metro station do we need to get to to get the RER train?
I have never seen tickets to Versailles sell out so I suggest buying them a day or two before the day you plan to go.
Do you mean the RER train to Versailles? If so, there are several RER C stations in Paris where you can catch the the RER C. Actually, that is true for every RER line as they traverse Paris. You get transit details for your trip from your accommodations in Paris to Versailles (or anywhere else in Paris) at www.ratp.fr or www.citymapper.com.
I notice on the RER-C map on the web the line splits in places and goes to varying destinations. Does this indicate a change of trains or just - be sure to get on the train which displays the correct end-point destination? (Versailles Chateau/Rive Gauche, par example).
A day or two in advance is fine, especially for early October.
