Versailles on Friday or Saturday in September?

We will be in Paris the first week of September, and we will have the Paris Museum Pass which gets us free entry into Versailles. I know we have to pay extra for the gardens when there is a special event going on. I've checked online and on Friday September 2 we can purchase a Musical Gardens ticket for 8 Euro. On Saturday September 3 there is a Musical Fountains Show ticket for 9 Euro.

I read in Rick's Paris 2016 book that Fridays are a better day to visit than Saturdays. Does that hold true in September as well? Is the fountain show that much more special than the musical gardens show to warrant a Saturday visit? I know that Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday are NOT an option.

The fountains are scattered all over the place, and they are only scheduled to run a few minutes during certain periods - so if you're not sure where you're going, you might miss the show. I'd make sure to try to locate the fountains before you arrive.
This info is from the official website:

If you really really want to see the fountains or the musical gardens, then you have to go there then. Early September is high season, it will probably be as crowded on Friday as Saturday. Those are events that draw larger crowds. If you can go on a day without an event, it may be less crowded. If you want to see the palace without a crowd, book a tour for first thing in the morning. . . . I mean the tours offered by Versailles, not a private tour.
