Was wondering if the Versailles night fountain show and fireworks is worth seeing. It is on Saturday night which you had mentioned was a high crowd day. Also would like to tour the palace. Would you recommend splitting the days or is it ok to go on same day? We will be in Paris The first of September for 6 days.

The fireworks show begins around 10:50 PM, and you'll have to hurry to catch the last train back to Paris.
You might try visiting the palace and the grounds after lunchtime, but you'll still have a very long day ahead of you. If you don't have young children or anyone with mobility issues, it's do-able. Versailles is going to be crowded, but it's usually much more so in the morning.

Yes I bought tickets online. Fortunately, my coworker speaks French and helped me out, because when I got to the purchasing portion it changed from English to French. Even selecting the USA flag feature did not seem to work. Thank goodness for smart friends that know a second language.
