Is it better to reserve time slot and tour for Versailles before we arrive on November 23, 2015 or should I buy the museum pass with no reservation for palace or should I order a tour to get into the palace and then buy more tours to see the other museums. One price I found is 18 euros for all the tours. Does this seem right? I found it on official Versailles site. Getting confused. Please any suggestions?
First off.. November.. while it will be busy.. it won't be super busy, so I think just arriving at opening time with a Museum Pass is all you need to do..
The pass gets you into all the parts except the Kings Apartments. To see them you have to reserve a tour . Well worth seeing I have heard.. but I have not bothered in over 10 visits( over many years) ..
Of course if you have no intention of using the Museum Pass for no other attractions then its worth it to just get the ticket for Versailles for 18 euros.
Thank you Pat. Now I know I will probably get a Museum Pass. Again thanks.
Hi Marte
We were at Versailles for the first time last month. We had a museum pass and bought tickets for the 9:30am tour. With those we got right into the building and did not wait in any lines. The tour was well worth the 7 euros, is about 90 mins, a smaller group so rooms aren't crowded, and we got to see the opera house. Afterward we walked through other parts of the palace, had lunch at Angelina's (have the hot cocoa), and spent the afternoon in the gardens. Enjoy your trip!
Thank you Linda. We will probably buy pass at museum.
To add to Lindas post.. the tour "The Kings Apartments" is available with the supplement fee of 7-8 euros IF you have the museum pass.. otherwise price is different if you do not already have pass.
I would like to do the King's Apartment tour and use my museum pass. were you able to walk to the ticket window and buy the additional tour or did you have to buy ahead of time? Going in Feb so crowds shouldn't be an issue.
Nancy the Kings Apartment tours are on time slots.. so I imagine walking up you "might" get on a tour.. or you might not.. plus you would have to wait in the ticket line.. therefore negating the useful aspect of having your Museum pass in hand ( the ticket line is separate from the security line )
To me it only makes sense to prebook your time slot.
