Our schedule puts us in Versailles on a Wed afternoon in Sept. To best avoid the lines and crowds, we planned to walk the gardens and visit Triananon palace first, taking an English tour of the chateau in the afternoon. However, when I try to book on the website the only tour option I'm given is 9:30 a.m. Can anyone advise if the guidebook is correct in stating that there are also afternoon tours? If so, how can I book? I don't find any general contact information on the website. Thank you.
We went on the tour and it was a bargain for 7 euros. But we booked it as soon as it became available a couple of months prior to our visit. The tour is pretty small (20 people) Also be sure to book in the language you want. We accidently booked a french speaking tour. We saw a lot but understood very little. It was the only big mistake of our trip. We laughed it off.
There are afternoon tours, but it could depend on the day/time of year what tours are available - maybe it slows down in September. What is on their website is probably what's available.
They do have a "Contact Us" section of their website where you could inquire directly via web form: http://en.chateauversailles.fr/contacts/contact-us
Thank you much for the replies. Stephanie, I have used your link and sent an inquiry. I will post the response. This was really helpful as I've had difficulty with the online system for Versailles that keeps switching over to French. Perhaps in September there is only a 9:30 tour in English, but hopefully I will now be able to know for sure. Gratitude.
