If I buy Versailles guided tour would it be helpful to have timed entry after tour

If I buy the Versailles official guided tour "Versailles Private Side" which replaces KAT, should I in addition buy a timed entry ticket? The tour begins at 9:30, takes 1.5 hours and I believe you then have to go back to the public entrance of the chateau. That should be around 11:15. Is it probable at that time the line to get in will be very long and also having a timed entry Passport ticket would be helpful? Our trip will be 10 Oct., a Thursday. It looks like the Passport ticket is 20E whether timed or not so I was thinking it might be good to do the timed. Thoughts, anyone?

There is no point in getting the timed entry as the tour leaves you inside the palace. You must have a palace entry or passport to do the tour; you go through security as part of the private tour and when it is done you are in the palace on your own. We did the KAT tour and I would assume the replacement does it the same way.

As always, thank you Jane. I had read somewhere that you were not left in the Palace, that you had to go back to the entrance to go to the public rooms such as Hall of Mirrors.. I wish I could find that reference. I think you said you did a tour recently. Do you remember if it was sign posted or how you knew where to go to enter the public rooms?
