Versailles Guide recommendations

Seeking wisdom! We are seeking a guide for Versailles (Chateau, Gardens) in July - family of 4 with two daughters aged 12 and 10. Any recommendations?

Would also gladly accept Louvre guide recommendations!

Thanks!

Get the RS Paris Pocket Guide Book - he has lots of recommendations in it.

Use the Rick Steves app and listen to his audioguide at Versailles--it was all that we needed. For the Louvre, we booked an English guided tour, "Welcome to the Louvre", for our family (2 daughters aged 11 & 13), and it was great. We learned about the history of the palace, saw the most famous pieces (Venus de Milo, Winged Victory, Mona Lisa), and then were out of time but right next to the rooms with other famous paintings, such as Liberty Leading the People, Raft of Medusa, and the Coronation of Napoleon. Obviously if you want something longer or more in depth book with an outside guide, but this was enough for us and then we just wandered around other parts of the museum on our own.

Carolyn,
Thank you for the suggestions! We used the Rick Steves audio tours extensively when we visited Italy several years ago…and they were great. This is our first trip with our kids, and wondered how they may take to RS audio. Glad to hear yours did so well! Thank you!
