Headed to Versailles for musical fountains day on Tues June 12, a RER strike day. Considering tour with Versailles Express (includes to/from on bus, tickets, departs 9ish near Eiffel Tower, leaves Versailles 6 pm) or UBER (so as to arrive before tour buses descend). Since I'm pretty inexperienced traveler, I'm not up for the bus (171).
Any input on best way to get to Versailles and enjoy it during high season and a strike day is appreciated! If I buy tickets in advance from Versaille web site (usng UBER for transport), please advise on what time to arrive Versaille and please set my expectations on how long we'd have to wait for security line to enter palace.
I too am going to Versailles on a strike day. I'm trying to figure out if I should just stick to RER C or do the 171 bus. I have a 9:30 Kings Apartments tour scheduled so am not considering the Versailles Express option.
Has anybody gone to Versailles on a strike day? What mode of transportation did you use? How did it go?
Thanks.
Laura
I know some trains still run on strike days, but instead of dealing with that we scheduled a citywonders tour of Versailles leaving from near the Trocadero metro.
Maybe my concerns are not valid, but I would guess the trains and other forms of transport would be even more jam packed on strike days. Reminds me of the saying about putting 8 pounds of poop in a 5 pound bag.
