Versailles

Hello!
I read that the best days to visit Versailles are Wed, through Fri.
Our plane lands at 8:10 am into Paris and thought we should head straight for Versailles (as we leave Tues. mid day.)

1) Do you recommend a guided tour? Or simply walk around by ourselves?

2) Which storage locker company would you recommend when we exit the train?

3) If not choosing to go on a guided tour, what are the top garden areas and sites we should see?

4) What else would you recommend around the area before heading to our airbnb for the night?

You land on the Friday, from your other threads, right?
Versailles is a tiring visit and transportation from CDG airport is very time consuming. At least 1 hour by (expensive) taxi, 1.45-2 hours by public transit. Honestly, I do not think it is a good idea to do it on day 1. Go on the Saturday or the Sunday: sure, there might be more people, but Versailles palace is crowded anyway.

I cannot even begin to imagine going to Versailles on your arrival day! Versailles is a lot of work to visit it properly. Go for a nice walk in Paris, have dinner and go to bed.
