Versailles - Certain access limited to weekends?

Hi All, I was just reading about Versailles and noted this on the Paris Museum Pass site: * i.e.: the "Grands Appartements", the Hall of Mirrors, the King's Bedchamber, the Queen's Bedchamber, the Dauphin and Dauphine apartments as well as those of Louis XV's daughters - weekends only - exhibitions, the Trianon Castles and the Estate of Marie-Antoinette.

Does this really mean we can't see any of this on weekdays? Very sad traveler here as our trip goes from Sunday arrival to Saturday departure. I am hoping I missed something.

Sarah,

I don't know where you read, "weekends only", because this is what I found on the official Paris Museum Pass website:http://en.parismuseumpass.com/musee-chateaux-de-versailles-et-de-trianon-64.htm

The PARIS MUSEUM PASS includes access to all unguided tours, open according to the season: the "Grands Appartements", the Hall of Mirrors, the King's Bedchamber, the Queen's Bedchamber, the apartments of "Mesdames" Louis XV's daughters, exhibitions, the Trianon Castle and the Estate of Marie-Antoinette.

the website does mention something about "weekends only":

http://en.parismuseumpass.com/rub-faq-16.htm

"The PARIS MUSEUM PASS includes access to all tours at the Palace of Versailles, open according to the season* and the audio tours. Please note, however, that the following attractions are not included: performances, the "Grandes Eaux Musicales" fountains and musical gardens, conferences, bar/restaurant services and transport.

To visit the gardens and the "Grandes Eaux Musicales", an additional entry charge must be paid.

This seems to apply to rooms which are only available to tour seasonally; specifically the apartments of the daughters. I've seen mentions that those rooms are only open during weekends in summer but I'm not finding that info on the site. I do see that because the Queen's Apartments are currently closed, that visitors are being routed through the Mesdames’ apartments .

There may be some room here or there closed but the estate will be open year round and the chateau open if not every single room. I would not worry about it. The fountains only run spring through fall and for a few hours on certain days, but those times are pretty clear on the web site. We went to the gardens on a Sunday in late October and the fountains ran on the published schedule.

It is very common for large museums to close some rooms some of the time. The Louvre closes some sections when it is open in the evening; this varies day to day and is posted at the information desk under the pyramid. Catherine Palace in Pushkin only opens the Queens apartments during winter when smaller numbers tour the palace. And apparently Versailles doesn't keep all the rooms of the chateau open all the time. It will not spoil your experience.

No, I wouldn't worry about it either. There will be plenty to see.

Thank you for the insight and support everyone! My main concern was that odd reference to the Hall of Mirrors - I was lucky enough to visit when I was 12 and the memory has stuck with me. I'm very excited to visit again.

It looks to me that the weekends only refers to the apartment of Louis XV's daughters. Lots of websites especially the English versions have grammatical issues that make them hard to interpret.

I was there on Sat. and everything was open except the Queen's rooms which were being renovated. I don't remember seeing the Dauphin/Dauphine apts. We saw two bedchambers of the King (one where he slept and one where people watched him wake up, I think).

We were there Friday 3/25/16. Queens apartments were closed for restoration. The Dauphin and Dauphine apartments were open as was the Trianon and the petit and hamlet. It also happened to be a fountain day.
