Hi! Going back to Versailles after 15 years. I want to minimize the time in line. I see options for the Museum Pass, and different options for Versailles only with timed entry. Is there a way to get both with one ticket?
No you cannnot. I would not use the MP for that for that reason but would buy a timed passport. The other option is to book a Kings Apartment Tour or the replacement backstage tour which takes about 90 minutes and then leaves you in the chateau without having to go through the long security line. You have a ticket for the chateau (or MP) and the separate ticket for that and they handle security as a group when you enter with the tour. I personally have done that and would recommend doing the timed entry instead.
Not that I am aware of (3 visits to Versailles) and nothing on the Versailles web site. Allowing it would be counterintuitive as the PMP is generally considered a discount system with multiple entries (obviously that is changing) at a large number of sites. The matching of the PMP and timed entry is only showing up at the Louvre based upon this summer’s madness (large crowds, Mona Lisa move, tour guide abuse) and public discontent (anger) at buying PMP on their trip of a lifetime and being turned down for Louvre entry.
If saving time is that important just buy the PMP for everything else and a separate timed entry Passport for Versailles. How many thousands of dollars are you spending on the trip—review the budget and find the extra $25 and have the best of both worlds.
