Versailles baggage storage

I've been reading the many Versailles posts but have not seen an answer to my question, so I hope someone can help me. My friend & I will be going to Versailles on June 30 (alas on a Saturday) from Chartres on the train and will have our carry on bag & RS daypacks with us. We'll also have our Museum Passes. We're interested in buying a 9:30 tour of the King's Apts; however what do we do with our baggage? Do we still have to go through the main security gate to get to baggage storage or is there a baggage storage at the entrance to the guided tour? I hope someone has done this or has knowledge! Anything else helpful would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much
