Hello,
I am trying to figure out if it is possible to visit Versailles and Monet's house/gardens in one day from Paris. I believe we can take the train from Paris.
I would do it in two days, but my husband really wants to go to Normandy and that is far and will require a full day because of the travel time.
Any suggestions you all have is greatly appreciated!
I love Monet's house and gardens but generally I spend most of a day doing this. I also spend a good portion of the day doing Versailles if I go out into the gardens and further to the Trianons and the Hamlet.
You can take the RER from Paris out to Versailles and you can take the train from Paris to Vernono from Gare Saint-Lazare with the shuttle bus to Giverny. I don't know if there is a way to get from Versailles to Giverny without coming back in to Paris.
There are also tours that will go to both in one day as well. Book directly with a tour company and not a 3rd party consolidator like Viator (owned by Trip Advisor and does not run the tours). I've never done a tour so no personal experience.
TBH, I'd save one for your next trip. For myself I'd do Giverny and save Versailles but that may not be your choice at all.
When are you traveling?
Are you going to try and do Normandie on your own or will you meet up with a tour operator in Bayeux?
I googled it and there seems to be a tour that does just that:
Thank you for your help. I appreciate it.
I'm not sure how to go about getting to Normandie.
A tour, as suggested above, is the only way to combine both Giverny and Versailles.
It could make for a long or rushed day, though.
Personal interests aside, I would choose Versailles, because the trip from Paris is a bit quicker and there is a lot more there, whereas getting to Giverny and back takes longer than what you'll actually spend at Monet's house, usually.
Thank you for all your help!
You can take an early train to Normandie and there are some tour companies that will meet you at the station for a day tour. I think Overlord Tours does this but you'd have to go to their website to check and see.
