So I was looking at the Versailles website and saw they had this to say about tickets and gatherings of 1,000 people or more. They are encouraging people to buy tickets with a timed entry. However we have museum passes and were given no timed entry. On their site it says “if you already have a ticket, a schedule can be given to you at the information point.” What is the information point?
Today BFM-TV reported that the Château de Versailles is now experiencing a 26% decline in admissions compared to the same period last year. Hopefully this means that visitors are taking their website seriously and getting the timed entry tickets.
The timed entry tickets also reduce your time standing in groups of people waiting in line.
When you arrive at the Château with your Museum Pass, go to the ticket office to be assigned an entry time, or follow the on-site guidance to the proper place to get your time slot. The procedure is evolving, so consider arriving early in the day, even before opening.
If your budget allows, I’d probably consider buying the timed entry tickets on the Château website in advance to save time.
Thank you! I’ve alerted my husband that we will need to get to the Palace early for our timed entry.
Versailles is now closed as the government has forbidden all gatherings of 100 people or more.
