I went to buy tickets today for versailles tomorrow(Sunday) the morning is sold out. Had to book the 1pm palace. We plan on doing the gardens first (bought separate tickets). Anyone had to do the early afternoon? How bad (jammed) is this going to be lol

Not any more jammed than the sold out morning tours. Since the afternoon tours are not sold out means they will have fewer people (or the same if they do sell out) than the morning tours.

This is better because the fountains only run briefly in the morning and then again late afternoon, so you can enjoy the morning fountains, grab a bite of lunch and then do the palace and then return to the garden for the afternoon fountains if you wish.

Sunday is musical fountain day. The fountains show in the afternoon is far more spectacular than the morning display (more fountains).
