Versaille-Museum Pass-Spectacle Day?

We plan to have a Museum Pass that will get us into the palace. The date September 6th it is also a "Spectacle " day which I believe will be the musical fountains. We know would need to buy another ticket for that. So the question is "To see any of the gardens we would need to buy that ticket too?"

No,, if you do not mind missing the formal gardens nearest the Chateau, you can visit the rest of the grounds and Marie Antionettes Hamlet and the Trianons without buying the supplement for the Fountain show.. ( which is in the formal gardens nearest palace).
However.. because they block off the formal gardens unless you have paid, you will have to walk around the outside walls to the entrances that lead to head of canal. The grounds of Versailles are public park and always free.. but the part nearest palace is not always open. It would take a good 15 minutes to walk around to other entrances.

It is a very long walk from the main entrance of Versailles around to the Queen's Gate...I would catch a taxi to take me there. That is the closest entrance to the Petite Hameau and the Trianons. For foot traffic it is free to enter this gate...if you have a car there is a fee but then you can drive through the gate and just park in the palace grounds.

Of course, if you are willing to spring for a taxi, why not just pay for the added ticket and enjoy a few of the fountain shows along the way?
