Vernon or?

Greetings fellow travellers,
I’m flying into Paris April 2027 and continuing on to Vernon to ultimately visit Giverny and spend a few days in the area then travel on to Budapest. I’d like to settle into my Airbnb in Vernon then am considering travelling back to Paris the next morning to visit Musée Carnavalet, Hôtel de Sully, Place des Vosges and a leisurely French lunch then travel back to Vernon late afternoon. While this route may seem inefficient, there are a few reasons for it. While I’m a fit woman in my early sixties, I have spinal stenosis and don’t want to fuss about with my luggage etc. to experience a few days in Paris. I had been to Paris 12 years ago and took in the Louvre etc. This will be a very different experience. Two things: are those destinations I’ve listed to see in Paris worth the visit or should I focus my time in Vernon, offering a very different experience. I love history, atmospheric destinations that touch the spirit. Any and all thoughts welcomed as to a. visit Paris for the day to see xyz, or b. spend the entire time ( 24-27) in Vernon and area. I’m on a budget coupled with some physical considerations, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

I like Vernon but it is not a place to spend three vacation days, IMO. I spent a lovely afternoon there a few years ago shopping and having lunch and sitting in the sun with friends. I think your day in Paris sounds lovely -- everything you want to do, except lunch, is free, which is nice. Not sure if you know so I will mention it: the interior of the Hotel de Sully is closed to the public except for guided tours. The courtyard and garden are accessible free of charge.

Thank you to both. This is so helpful! Really appreciate the suggestions for Paris, Giverny and Rouen. I’ve added a night to my Vernon stay to experience Rouen! I’m very excited. 😊

Oh, yes, I love a good mystery. I’ll most certainly pursue. Thank you.
