vegetarian inclined and seine boat trips

Hello!

I am seeking restaurants in Paris that might have good vegetarian options, please. We will be staying in the Rue Cler area but will explore the surroundings!

We are also interested in the Seine boat trips. They seem touristy but relaxing. Which ones are recommended?

Thanks, Cheryl

No comments on vegetarian meals (or other restaurants -- we generally wander around and read menus) but my favorite Seine cruise is Vedettes du Pont Neuf, partly because it's handy to the Latin Quarter/Marais area where we usually stay. Low-key, inexpensive (you can buy a ticket online for a small discount) and a great 1-hour view from the water.

Edited to correct cruise line name. Thanks, Hubestur.

Yes, the Seine boat cruises are “touristy” because Parisians are busy living their lives on the left and right banks of the Seine and being non-tourists. The boat cruises are especially for the likes of you. Do the cruise ..... it is part of the Paris experience for every visitor to the city.

For vegetarian meal options here's a couple of links... I have several more if you're interested! (I'm headed to Paris in Nov and am researching places w/vegan and veg options) I can't speak for the quality of the food, since I haven't tried them yet, but I'd be interested if anyone else has recommendations! :)

You won't have any trouble with finding vegetarian meals. Nearly all restaurants have at least one main and one appetizer. Menus are posted outside so you can easily check to see if there is something of interest.

I'm vegan and don't have a huge problem. I think the only place I had kind of a problem was Cafe Constant on Rue Saint-Dominique. It's a popular place and I went with friends but the only non-meat items were salad and soup. It was fine, just expensive for what I got. In that instance it was more about spending time with the people than what I could actually eat. That was several years ago!

If you enjoy ethnic food definitely try that! I love the falafel places in the Marais!

Happy Cow is your worldwide resource for all things vegetarian/vegan all over the world -- you can search by city and drill down from there about dietary and cuisine preferences. They have a large number of listings in Paris. I like to cross reference their listings with TripAdvisor, but generally I've never been disappointed with a Happy Cow listing.

We spent a month in Paris last year. We are both vegan. We get places with kitchens. That said, we did go to the Marais three times for falafel sandwiches. Sigh. Well, it was so good the first time that we had to return to make sure it wasn't a fluke. The nearby bakeries, also sigh.

Denis is fond of pizza, and as I am not, he just got some take-out from Hank's Vegan Pizza. He would recommend it. Hank also has Hank's Vegan Burgers, but we never got there. https://www.hankrestaurant.com/

Some of the outdoor markets have prepared foods. The Moroccan tangines at Enfants Rouge looked wonderful, but we never had good timing. There were also prepared offerings at Popincourt, which is where we did most of our produce shopping, and Bastille.

One day we went out for South Indian, but I don't remember the name of the restaurant.

A friend from my vegan discussion forum went this may and drooled over these places. I doubt she'll mind my sharing them.

She speaks fluent French, and said the Vietnamese places were also quite good. She's fond of the sandwich I believe is called Bahn Mi. Apparently one must be mindful of the fish sauce.

Yes, Happy Cow can be your friend.

Well, Donna got me hooked on a new falafel place (across from the over-popular L'As du Fallafel) last year so listen to her!

Not sure who or what Eatwell is but veggies are good in Paris. Salads are generally terrific and varied as well.

I would recommend Paradis Marguerite at 27 quai des Grands Augustine. It is located right by the river between Notre Dame and the Pont Neuf. It is a 30 second walk from Place St. Michel toward Pont Neuf.
The website us www.paradismarguerite.fr.
On the website photo you will see a giant white cow statue. This used to sit on the front terrace of the restaurant, but I didn't see it there thus past June. Early one morning last year I did witness a young employee moving the cow through the doorway to the terrace and he got it stuck in the doorway. It was very amusing.
The boat ride from the Pont Neuf is only a 5 minute walk from there.

Barbra, what is eatwell and why should we pay attention to it?

Also, where or what is rue Cher? Does Cher live there? Or did you mean rue . Cler?
