Would it be better to rent a van for 6 people than take public transportation in March? I don't think the buses run from the train station in March which would require two expensive taxi rides to and from the Chateaux?

I am pretty sure that Vaux le Vicomte is closed for the winter until March 25, so factor that into plans. The buses don't run because the Chateau is not open to visitors. I'll bet when it is, the buses will be running again.

Thank you very much! I checked the website and you are correct. RS does say it is closed in Jan., Feb. thru March 25.

Two expensive taxi rides to and from the Chateau after the train ride to Melun will be far easier on your nerves, if not on your wallet, than renting a van and driving in and out of Paris (unless you're hiring a driver too).
