Van Gogh at atelier des lumieres

Many have asked me about this exhibit under another thread, so I thought I'd switch to this one just to keep us organized 😉

Mona, I honestly don't remember if it was AC or not. It was not hot when we were in Paris, mercifully, so wasn't a factor.

I do vaguely remember feeling it was a bit close, but there were also many people ...but we were not uncomfortable.

Now that we are in Provence where it IS hot, I wish we'd planned to go to the carriers des lumieres here, which is in a grotto and apparently very cool - just a tip in case you are coming south. Although there are many more places I want to visit here so just as well; of course that was true in Paris also.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Enjoy!

Thanks for the information. We’ll be in Italy first where we know it will be seasonally warm. Just don’t know how to organize our Paris days yet as it’s too soon to estimate weather. We are return visitors to Paris so we have a variety of outdoor and indoor activities planned. We are flexible and will organize ourselves as we go. Thank you for your insight!

Mona,

Atelier des lumieres is air conditioned. We’ll be in Paris 9/5 to 9/15 then down to Provence. I’m trying to decide between going in Paris or in Provence. I’m leaning towards going while in Paris.

I can't compare the atmosphere of the two locations, but I can say the one in the old quarry in Les Baux is incredible (and cool). You can buy a ticket that gets you into the castle and the exhibit, I felt for a very reasonable price. I would explore the castle ruins early and hit up the show as the sun gets hot. Or show up for the exhibit in the mid afternoon and make it into the castle before they close.

I was in Paris and Provence on my trip and I'm glad we went while in Provence.

Atelieres Lumiere is well air conditioned (of course when it is 105 out, it is unlikely to get it as chilly as it usually is, but it is definitely air conditioned. IN the restaurants that have it in Paris (and many don't) it is often just a unit over the door and will be entirely inadequate for the heat wave.
